Getting the right light for the job![]()
A lot of designers use whatever they have on-hand to get the job done. If they have a lot of one type of item that doesn’t seem to be selling, you can bet they’re going to try to convince you that it is exactly what you need. The truth is that it is exactly what they need—to get their money back for something they over-invested in!
At Illuminations Lighting Design we say it again and again: Each design is unique; one family’s requirements will be different from that of their neighbors. Do we all wear blue pants and white shirts? Of course not!
We consult with you; we determine your needs and expectations; we design a plan; and most importantly, once we agree, we get the right fixtures and fittings for the task. This is where our broad experience comes into play, as you can see in our beautiful outdoor gallery.
We know all the best manufacturers, their products, and the specifications for each one. We know when a specific item is required, and we know where to get it, if it doesn’t happen to be a regularly stocked item, because the inside is just as important as the outside.
Our lovely customer, Grace Baker, wrote to say:

It was our pleasure, Grace. Once we knew what you wanted to achieve there was really only one choice of light. The big secret is just being familiar with a vast array of items and manufacturers. Even if we only need something spectacular (like what you chose) once or twice a year, we still stay in touch with the factories to sustain our relationships.
Companies always come out with new products. We’ve installed most everything made at least a few times, but we still need to be up-to-date on unique new items. We don’t want to be caught flat-footed when a client has a special request.
Grace continued, saying:
Our electrician put the lights on the tree the day before we arrived to ensure there weren’t any issues…so we got to walk in and see the fully illuminated tree-it was magical!
We are thrilled that you are delighted with the results.
So, whenever my budget allows, I will have to get the same lights for Houston! Thanks for your help on this!!
